UNESCO World Book and Copyright Day Booktalk Lunch

by Barb on April 23rd, 2012

Booktalk lunches returned to Iowa City Public Library today when City of Literature USA and Iowa City Public Library partnered to celebrate World Book and Copyright Day.  If you were in attendance, you heard how books inspired notable people in our community.  If you missed it but would like to check out the books they introduced, what follows is a list of the speakers and the books they introduced.  Links are provided for each title to the Library’s catalog.  Many are also available as audiobooks or eBooks so if one of these formats is your preference, search the catalog by title.

Wedding planning!  Who knew there were so many decisions to make and that nearly a year wouldn’t seem like enough time?  The Library’s collection of books have been a great help in getting me organized and developing a budget and timeline so I can focus on "the next big decision".  A couple of the titles that have been most helpful for getting started are How to "I Do": Planning the Ultimate Wedding in Six Weekends or Less, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Budgeting for Your Wedding and Bridal Bargains: Secrets of Throwing a Fantastic Wedding on a Realistic Budget.  Vera Wang isn’t among the "bridal bargains" but her book, Vera Wang on Weddings, has some good, basic advice on finding the perfect dress along with advice and beautiful photos for every aspect of creating a wedding to remember.  Next up is figuring out how to evaluate photographers so I’ll be searching the catalog for Wedding Photography.
