Six years ago a patron came to the Library every day for months and asked me if I’d read The Red Tent by Anita Diamant yet. Eventually he wore me down and I read it … and absolutely loved it.
Anita Diamant‘s new novel, Day after Night, is based on the true story of the October 1945 rescue of over two hundred Jewish refugees from the Atlit immigration holding camp outside Haifa. The story unfolds through the stories of four Holocaust survivors who are residents of Atlit: Shayndel, Leonie, Tedi, and Zorah. Each survivor has a heartbreaking story; however, they remain optimistic about their future.
I listened to the story and thought Dagmara Dominczyk’s narration was wonderful. Dominczyk is a native of Poland and she adds an authentic voice to Diamant’s story. ~~Enjoy~~
