Dashiell Hammitt and Raymond Chandler often get cited as creating noir fiction, but neither of them wrote as many as ten books, even counting story collections and posthumous pastichesElmore Leonard has written 40, remarkably consistent, state-of-the-art tough guy crime novels.  He’s a national treasure.  He’ll tell you how it’s done, too.

His latest brings back three characters from earlier novels–Reverend Dawn, a psychic con woman from Riding the Rap; Cundo Rey, short, fast-talking Cuban from  LaBrava; and Jack Foley from Out of Sight, a gentleman bank robber so cool that George Clooney played him in the movie.  Cundo and Jack are prison buddies, tho Cundo’s wealth gets them both freed early.  Dawn, Cundo’s girldfriend, quickly approached Jack about teaming up to grab some of Cundo’s money.  Loyalties shift.  People get scammed.  People get hurt.

Where would you find me in the Library:
At the Reference Desk at the top of the stairs
Interesting facts:
I have the useless superpower of always knowing within a few minutes, what time it is.
When I sing, flowers wilt, babies cry, angels molt.
I've had panties thrown at me onstage at the Mill.
