Perhaps you entertain visions of yourself on the big screen, bathed in soft light and tasteful makeup. Or perhaps you see yourself on the small, living room-sized screen, bathed in…well, whatever. Maybe you’re somewhere behind the camera, gaffing, dolly gripping, engaging in foley artistry, or yelling "aaaaaannnnd CUT!".
Regardless of how you want to do it, if you’re looking to make your life’s work (and money) in the movies, you might want to read up on it a bit. The Library has books on financing films, writing scripts, the acting industry, and producing films. If you’re more of a film buff, we’ve got books on the history of cinema and Hollywood, dishy biographies and interviews, and books full of reviews.
Of course, maybe you just want to watch some movies, and we’ve got lots of those. There’s also the upcoming Landlocked Film Festival, with a wide array of film selections as well as panel discussions.
Just remember, there is a movie book clause (similar to the knitting book clause) that if you do read one of our books, and then make it big in the industry, you have to thank ICPL in your movie credits.
